Cookie policy
What Rankticker stores on your device, why, and how to control it. The short version: no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
Last updated: 8 October 2026
This policy covers the public website at rankticker.com and the Rankticker platform (the logged-in app at /app/ and the publisher portal). Rankticker is a trading name of Swoonsy Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17494196, registered office 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom.
1. Summary
- The website sets no cookies. It uses no analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or social media trackers.
- The website and the app remember your light or dark theme choice in your browser's local storage. That choice stays on your device and is never sent to us.
- The app uses only what it needs to work: storage that keeps you signed in, keeps your cart, protects your account and processes card payments securely.
- We don't use cookies or similar technology to build a profile of you or to show you ads.
2. Cookies, local storage and the law
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Local storage and session storage do a similar job: they let a site keep small pieces of information on your device. The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) cover all of these, which the ICO calls "storage and access technologies".
Under PECR, a site must tell you clearly what it stores and, in most cases, ask for your consent. There are exceptions. Consent isn't needed where storage is strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for, or where its only purpose is to adapt how a service looks or works to match a preference you have chosen, as long as you get clear information and a simple, free way to object. The ICO describes these exceptions in its guidance on storage and access technologies.
Everything Rankticker currently stores falls under one of those exceptions, so we don't show a cookie banner. This page is the clear information the law requires.
3. The website
The website at rankticker.com does not set cookies. When you switch between light and dark mode, your browser saves that choice in local storage under the name rt-theme, so the next page you open uses the same theme. It holds only the word for your chosen theme. It contains no identifier and is never sent to our servers.
This falls under the PECR exception for adapting how a service appears to match your preference. To object, don't use the theme switch, or clear the site data for rankticker.com in your browser settings. The site works the same either way and follows your device's theme setting.
Our hosting provider records basic request logs, such as your IP address and the page requested, for security and to keep the site running. That isn't stored on your device, and our privacy policy explains it.
4. The app and publisher portal
When you sign in to Rankticker, the app uses cookies or local storage that are strictly necessary for the service you have asked for:
- to keep you signed in as you move between pages, and sign you out securely
- to protect your account and our platform against fraud and misuse
- to keep the placements in your cart until you check out
- to remember your theme choice, as on the website
- to let our payment provider process card payments securely at checkout
We don't use any of these for analytics, advertising or tracking you across other sites.
5. What we store
| Name | Type | Where | Purpose | How long | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
rt-theme | Local storage | Website and app | Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode | Until you clear it in your browser | Preference (appearance exception) |
| Sign-in session (name to be confirmed when sign-in launches) | Cookie or local storage (to be confirmed) | App and publisher portal | Keeps you signed in and protects your session | To be confirmed when sign-in launches | Strictly necessary |
| Cart (name to be confirmed) | Local storage or held on our servers (to be confirmed) | App | Keeps the placements in your cart until you check out or remove them | Until checkout or until you empty the cart | Strictly necessary |
__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid (to be confirmed) | Cookies set by our payment provider, currently Stripe | App checkout | Fraud prevention and secure card payments | Set by Stripe. See Stripe's cookie policy | Strictly necessary |
We will update this table when sign-in launches and whenever we add or change anything stored on your device.
6. Controlling what is stored
You can view, block and delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. Most browsers have a "clear site data" option for a single site. If you block or delete storage the app relies on, you will be signed out, your cart may empty, and some features won't work until you allow it again. Clearing rt-theme only resets your theme.
7. If we add analytics later
We don't run analytics today. If we decide to measure how the website or app is used, we will update this page before we start. Where the law requires consent, we will ask for it first and you can say no without losing access to anything. If we use a type of analytics that the law allows without consent, we will explain it here and give you a simple, free way to opt out.
8. Changes and contact
We will update this policy when what we store changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. Questions go to hello@rankticker.com or through our contact page. Our terms and conditions cover the rest of how you use Rankticker.
