Frequently asked questions
How buying, delivery, tracking, refunds and publishing work on Rankticker. If your question isn't here, email hello@rankticker.com.
Buying
How do I buy a backlink on Rankticker?
Search the marketplace, open a publisher profile and add the format you want to the cart. In the cart you set the project, target URL, anchor text, article type and content options for each placement, then pay by card against an on-platform invoice. More on ordering.
What can I order?
Guest posts, link insertions into existing articles, sponsored posts, news and PR pieces, product reviews and AI Optimized Articles. Not every publisher offers every format, and the profile lists what each one sells. If you are not sure which to pick, read digital PR vs guest posts vs link insertions.
How are prices set?
Publishers set their own rates for each format, and the price on the listing already includes Rankticker's fee. The listing shows a starting price and the profile shows the price and terms per format, in pounds. Options such as longer content or a rushed order can change the total, and the cart shows the final figure before you pay. See pricing.
Can I choose dofollow, nofollow or sponsored links?
You can filter the marketplace by link type, and each profile states the link attribute the publisher uses. Google asks for paid links to carry rel="sponsored" or rel="nofollow", which we explain in paid links and Google's spam policies.
What is the difference between auto and semi-auto campaigns?
Both work from a monthly budget and rules you set, such as niche, geo and maximum cost per link. Auto places links each cycle within those rules. Semi-auto recommends placements with the reason for each pick, and nothing is ordered until you approve it. How campaigns work.
Content
Who writes the content?
Rankticker's writers, or you. To use your own article, switch on the supply-own-content option for that placement in the cart. Every draft goes through our chief editor before the publisher sees it. More on content.
Can I review the article before it goes live?
Yes. The draft sits in an editor on the order page where you can read it, leave comments and request revisions. The number of revisions included is shown on the listing.
Can I choose the anchor text?
Yes, within the publisher's anchor policy, which is shown on the profile. Some publishers only accept branded or URL anchors. Our anchor text guide covers how to mix them.
Is AI used to write the content?
Each publisher profile states that publisher's policy on AI-assisted content, so you know before you order. Whoever drafts the article, it is reviewed by our chief editor and then by the publisher.
Delivery and tracking
How long does delivery take?
Each listing shows the publisher's turnaround. Where a rushed order is offered you can select it in the cart. The order page shows which stage the order is at, so you are not waiting on email updates.
What are the order stages?
Order placed, in production (topic and writing), chief editor review, publisher review and comments, then live. Anything that needs you, such as uploading content or approving a draft, appears in your inbox. More on order tracking.
What does the live link tracker check?
Whether the page is live, the anchor is present, the link points to your target URL, the page is OK and indexed, and the link attribute is the one you ordered. It keeps checking after the order goes live and flags problems in your inbox. More on link monitoring.
Will my link be indexed?
The tracker shows whether the page is indexed. Some publishers offer an indexing guarantee, and where they do it is stated on the listing.
Quality and safety
How do you vet publishers?
We look at spam score, the TF:CF ratio, organic traffic and its trend, the share of outbound links that are sponsored, whether articles carry an author, outbound links into grey niches, and how many pages are indexed. Those signals stay visible on the profile so you can judge them yourself. Our vetting process.
Do you sell PBN links?
No. Sites that look like private blog networks or link farms, such as groups sharing owners and templates or sites with no real readership, are kept out of the marketplace. Here is how to spot PBNs and link farms.
Are paid links against Google's guidelines?
Google's spam policies treat links bought to manipulate rankings as link spam and ask for paid links to be marked rel="sponsored" or rel="nofollow". We don't claim our links are undetectable. You choose the link attribute and whether disclosure is shown.
Can you guarantee rankings?
No. Rankings depend on far more than one link, and nobody can honestly promise them. What we control is the process: the placement goes live as ordered on the publication you chose, and we keep checking it afterwards. How to measure link building ROI.
AI visibility
What does AI visibility tracking measure?
For the prompts you track, how often ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Gemini mention or cite your brand. Each project reports AI visibility, share of voice, brand mentions, citation share and answer sentiment. How AI visibility works.
What does the AI flag on a listing mean?
Our scans have recorded that publication being cited as a source in AI answers. It tells you the site is in the pool AI engines draw from now. It does not promise that an article you place there will be cited.
Can you guarantee citations in ChatGPT or AI Overviews?
No. The engines decide what to cite, and their sources shift over time. We show you which publications are cited for your topics today so you can decide where to place content.
What is an AI Optimized Article?
An article written to be easy to quote: entities named clearly, facts with sources, short claims that stand on their own and a predictable structure. It is still written for the publication's readers. Link building for AI search.
Payments and refunds
How do I pay?
By card at checkout, against an on-platform invoice. Prices on the website are in pounds sterling.
Can I cancel an order?
Orders cancelled before writing starts are refunded in full. The full conditions are in our terms.
What happens if my link is removed or changed?
If a link is removed or changed within the link permanence period stated on the listing, we ask the publisher to restore it. If it is not restored within 14 days, you get a replacement placement of equal value or a credit.
What is the link permanence period?
It is how long the publisher commits to keep the link live and unchanged, and it is stated on each listing. A listing might say lifetime, for example. Check it before you order.
Publishers
How do I list my website?
Sign up through the publisher portal and add your sites. We review each site before it appears in the marketplace. Rankticker for publishers.
Who sets the prices?
You do, per format and per site. The portal also shows how comparable publications price and which formats buyers in your niche ask for.
Can I decline a request?
Yes. You accept or decline each request, review the content before publishing, and mark the order live yourself once it is up.
How do I get paid?
The portal shows your revenue and your next payout. How and when payouts are made is explained on the publisher page and in our terms.
Account and data
What is a project?
A project is one website you build links for. It holds that site's orders, campaigns, live links, spend, SEO performance and AI visibility. Agencies can set up one project per client site.
Where do metrics like DR and TF come from?
They are third-party metrics: Domain Rating is from Ahrefs, Domain Authority from Moz, and Trust Flow and Citation Flow from Majestic. All of them are estimates, so read them together rather than relying on one. Definitions are in the link building glossary.
How do you handle my data?
