Archive or delete a project

Archive a project you no longer work on to hide it from your lists, restore it later, or delete a project that has no orders.

Updated 2 min read

When you stop working on a site, for example when a client leaves, archive its project. Archiving keeps everything and can be undone. Deleting is permanent, and only works for a project that has never had an order.

Anyone in the workspace can archive, restore or delete projects. See Team roles.

Archive a project

  1. Open the project from Projects.

  2. Click the ••• button next to Buy a backlink at the top right.

  3. Click Archive project. The change is saved straight away.

What happens when you archive:

  • The project moves from the Projects tab to the Archived tab on the Projects page.
  • It no longer appears in the project pickers in your cart and at checkout, or when you save a publication to a shortlist. If a placement in your cart was set to this project, choose another one at checkout.
  • Its orders stay in Orders, with “(archived)” after the project name. Orders already in progress carry on as normal.
  • Its data, shortlist and order history are kept.

Restore a project

  1. On the Projects page, click the Archived tab and open the project.

  2. Click Restore project in the note at the top of the page, or in the ••• menu.

The project is back on the Projects tab and in the project pickers.

Delete a project

You can only delete a project that has no orders. A project with orders can only be archived, because deleting it would also delete its order history. If you try, Rankticker offers Archive instead.

  1. Open the project and click •••, then Delete project….

  2. Type the project's domain (for example acme.com) to confirm.

  3. Click Delete project.

Deleting removes the project, its shortlist and its SEO and AI visibility data for everyone in the workspace. It can't be undone. If you might need the project again, archive it instead.

Common questions

Where did the Active and Inactive filters go?

Projects no longer have a status. Archive the ones you don't work on, and they move out of your main list.

Does archiving stop orders that are in progress?

No. Orders carry on to live as normal, and you can still open them, comment and approve drafts from Orders.
